SARGA MOTORSPORT has made a major move ahead of the 2026 FIA Rallycross World Cup by signing two highly experienced drivers, Sébastien Loeb and Kevin Hansen. Both will compete in the RX1 category when the event takes place at the Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit in Ancol on December 5–6, 2026.
For SARGA MOTORSPORT, the event will also mark its debut in the FIA Rallycross World Cup. In addition to fielding Loeb and Hansen, the Indonesian team will also enter young driver Kingston Effendi in the RX5 category.
Loeb Brings World Championship Experience
Sébastien Loeb is undoubtedly the biggest name in SARGA MOTORSPORT’s lineup.
The French driver is widely regarded as one of the greatest rally competitors of all time after winning nine World Rally Championship titles. His long experience across different forms of motorsport gives SARGA a major advantage as it prepares for the demanding nature of rallycross.
Unlike traditional stage rallying, rallycross takes place on short circuits that combine asphalt and gravel sections. For the Jakarta event, the E-Prix circuit will be modified into a mixed-surface layout consisting of roughly 60 percent asphalt and 40 percent dirt.
That type of track could suit Loeb well, considering his long history of adapting to changing surfaces and high-pressure racing conditions.
Kevin Hansen Reunites with Loeb
Kevin Hansen is also a familiar figure in international rallycross.
The Swedish driver won the FIA European Rallycross Championship in 2016 and has twice finished as runner-up in the FIA World Rallycross series. He also added the 2025 FIA Extreme H World Cup title to his growing list of achievements.
Interestingly, Hansen and Loeb have already worked together before.
The pair shared the same team in the FIA World Rallycross Championship between 2016 and 2018. Nearly a decade later, they are set to reunite under the SARGA MOTORSPORT banner.
Before racing in Jakarta, Hansen is also scheduled to represent the team in the FIA European Rallycross Championship round at Lohéac, France, from August 28–30, 2026.
Kingston Effendi Represents Indonesia
SARGA is not only relying on international star power.
The team will also field Indonesian driver Kingston Effendi in the RX5 category, giving the project a stronger local identity.
SARGA.CO founder Aryo PS Djojohadikusumo described the Rallycross World Cup campaign as an important step in strengthening the organization’s presence on the international motorsport stage.
He also emphasized that bringing in drivers such as Loeb and Hansen can go hand in hand with efforts to provide young Indonesian racers with greater exposure to world-class competition.
SARGA MOTORSPORT chief Felix Effendi has expressed a similar view, saying the lineup reflects the team’s ambition to develop a motorsport program with global standards while still contributing to the growth of Indonesian racing talent.
Jakarta Becomes a New Stage for Global Rallycross
The 2026 FIA Rallycross World Cup carries additional significance because it brings top-level rallycross competition to a new region.
Jakarta has been confirmed as host for the December 5–6 event, making Indonesia an important part of the FIA’s effort to expand rallycross beyond its traditional European base.
The event is also expected to become one of the most significant international rallycross competitions ever held in Southeast Asia.
The Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit, normally used for electric single-seater racing, will be transformed to suit rallycross.
Drivers will face a short and technical layout featuring aggressive braking zones, changing grip levels, dirt sections, and close wheel-to-wheel racing.
Those characteristics are central to rallycross and should create a very different atmosphere compared with the circuit’s usual Formula E configuration.
More Than Just a Competitive Project
For SARGA, signing Loeb and Hansen is not only about chasing results.
Both drivers bring experience, international recognition, and technical knowledge that can help strengthen the team during its first appearance at this level.
Their presence may also give young racers such as Kingston Effendi an opportunity to learn inside a more competitive environment.
Organizers have also expressed hopes that the Rallycross World Cup in Jakarta can help expand Indonesia’s wider motorsport ecosystem. The event is being positioned not only as an international spectacle, but also as a platform to inspire new drivers and increase interest in rallycross within the country.
